Experience

My name is María, I was born in Málaga, Spain, and I came to England two years ago to learn English and develop my career as a Spanish teacher. Since I was little, I have had a vocation for teaching and have been enthusiastic about languages. I am a native Spanish speaker and a qualified teacher with over five years of experience teaching not only Latin and Ancient Greek but also Spanish as a second language to adult learners and school students (small groups and one-to-one tuition). I also feel very interested in the promotion of Spanish culture that you mention on your website. Graduated at the University of Málaga studying Latin and Ancient Greek language and culture, I started out as a private tutor. I completed my Master’s Degree in Education at the National Distance University of Spain and then I moved to London where I graduated in Spanish Language Teaching to Adults at the Instituto Cervantes and University of Roehampton and I have been tutoring one-to-one at Ashtead Tutor in Ashtead, Surrey, and helping with the delivery of Spanish at KS3, KS4 and KS5 at Blenheim High School, Epsom, Surrey. As part of the postgraduate study, I have student teaching experience of Year 12 at the Primary and Secondary Spanish School Vicente Cañada Blanch based in Notting Hill, London. I instructed a diverse group of high school students for 16 weeks and gained the ability to build good relationships with students, teachers and parents, work as part of a team, manage groups of students and cope with challenging behaviours. Throughout my placement at the Instituto Cervantes, I performed practical teaching work and coached a small group of adult learners at A1 Level in the CEFR for 20 hours enhancing my teaching techniques. Furthermore, I enrolled in NCFE Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools at Vision Learning Academy studying children and young people development, safeguarding, communication and understanding the school context. Five years of coaching, tutoring, creating didactic resources for teaching Classic Greek and Latin in the classroom and realizing that teaching is fascinating. Every person is unique. The lessons are thoroughly enjoyable, carefully prepared, and specifically designed to suit areas that require personal development. This includes the preparation of bespoke exercises, with the use of cards, flashcards, handouts, etc., all tailored uniquely to suit your goals and targets. I always take the time to provide corrections and explain any mistakes made. It is my goal to combine my experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent and patient teacher who will make a positive contribution to anyone. I hope you will find that I am qualified for teaching you. If I can provide you with any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
